Dr. Hanan J. Sboul, M.B.A., CAE | Secretary General - JAPM

the Secretary General of the Jordanian Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (JAPM), a position she has held since 2003. She has more than three decades of experience in the pharmaceutical sector, with a diverse professional background spanning pharmaceutical regulation, industry representation, policy development, academia, project management, and advocacy.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Yarmouk University and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Jordan. She began her career as a Teaching Assistant at Jordan University of Science and Technology before joining the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), where she worked for ten years in pharmaceutical registration and served as Secretariat of the Technical Committees for the Registration and Pricing of Pharmaceuticals, as well as the Sera and Vaccines Committee. She also contributed to the establishment of the pharmacovigilance system at JFDA.

Prior to her current role at JAPM, Ms. Sboul served as Acting Secretary General of JAPM and later as Pharmacy Programs Director for a USAID-funded women’s health project implemented by Abt Associates. Her work has included policy advocacy, pharmaceutical industry development, regulatory affairs, capacity building, and improving access to medicines.

At JAPM, she represents Jordan’s pharmaceutical industry locally, regionally, and internationally and advocates for policies that strengthen local pharmaceutical production and support the industry's expansion into areas including biologicals and value-added medicines. She has also led numerous capacity-building initiatives and represented Jordan’s pharmaceutical industry in international forums and public-private delegations.

Ms. Sboul has held numerous leadership and advisory positions, including with the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), the International Generics and Biosimilars Association (IGBA), the Jordan Food and Drug Administration, the Higher Education Council, and several university and pharmaceutical-sector committees. She currently serves as President of the USP Convention for the 2025–2030 cycle and has served as the Team Lead for the Pharmaceutical Industry Group within the national team responsible for developing Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision 2023–2033.

She is a Certified Pharmacist and a Certified Association Executive (CAE), and has extensive experience in pharmaceutical industry advocacy, regulatory affairs, international cooperation, and professional capacity building.
